History
Founded in 903 by the Moorish Andalusian traders, Oran came under Spanish rule in the year 1509. In 1708, The Spanish were dislodged by the Ottomans. During World War II this city was captured by the Allies in 1942. After the Algerian War (1954–1962), most of the Europeans who had been living in Oran fled to France.
