City Bhakatpur in Nepal – City of Devotees
Bhaktapur also called Bhadgaon or Kwopa is located towards the east of Kathmandu Valley in Bagmati zone. Third largest city in the valley, it was the capital of Nepal during the great Malla Kingdom till the later part of 15th century. Listed as one of the world heritage centres for rich culture, temples, and wood, metal and stone artworks, it is known as the “city of devotees” and is one of the three royal cities of Nepal.

History

Changu Narayan is a world heritage site that each tourist enjoys. Apart from these, visitors can have great time at the holy places of Kamal Vinayak, Surya Vinayak, Chonga Ganesh, 40 temples and the large Shiva Linga.
Getting Around
City guides are available at the Tribhuban International Airport. Visitors reach Kathmandu through air or road from other places and proceed to Bhaktapur. City of Bhaktapur is without any vehicle as plying of vehicles is not allowed there. Buses and taxis are available from the city outskirts. Car rentals for carrying passengers to the periphery of Bhkatapur from Kathmandu are also available.
Entertainment
City of devotees, Bhaktapur does not have the traditional sources of entertainment. It is still one of the popular day-trip destinations for the tourists to Kathmandu. Pollution free environment, breathtaking landscape and panoramic views of Mount Everest are the sources of calm and quite entertainment for them.
