City Bukhara in Uzbekistan - The Holy City of East – Bukhara

Bukhara located in Uzbekistan, this city is also known as one of the holiest cities of the Middle Eastern world. The city is famous for its laid, relaxed and yet somewhat modern atmosphere. This is one of those few parts of the country, which can be called full of life.

History
Most part of the city was built after 1966 when a massive earthquake hit the city and erased out any remaining architectural pieces of the old city. However, there are still a few surviving buildings which help to give a fair idea of what the old city of Bukhara used to look like. The old town is one of the most interesting parts of the city.

Popular Places
Some of the favourite places among the tourists who visit this city include both the New and Old parts of the city. Some other popular places include Lab-i-Hauz, The Citadel. It should be noted that both these landmarks are situated at the either ends of the city. So be ready to savour in the beauty of Koranic schools, minarets and hundreds of museums situated all over the city.

Getting Around
It is not too hard to reach Bukhara from any of the nearby cities. There are regular buses running between Samarkand, Tashkent. Apart from the buses, the huge fleet of flights and train services. Once in the city, it would be advisable to discover the city on foot. However, if you have to cover long distance, hiring a private cab would be your best bet.

Places of Entertainment
Some of the most interesting places in the city include Ismail Samani Mausoleum, Kalyan Minaret and mosque and Miri Arab Madrassa are some other places of interest. Another important place is the Poi Kalyan Complex which is particularly famous for its architectural wonder.

Currency
Do not forget to check the news paper in order to know the latest exchange rate. Since the value of money in this country is really low, it can prove to be a bit of problem if you would try to exchange your $50 note into the local currency.
