History
Kuala Belatit generally means mouth of the River Belatit. This place was a house to numerous fishermen due to its close proximity to the river Belatit and the South China Sea.

Kuala Belatit is an administrative capital of the Belatit district, but previously the town Kuala Belai was the administrative capital, located further up the Belatit River. After the exploration of the oil fields in Seria, Kuala Belatit was made the administrative capital of the Belatit district due to its inaccessibility. Moreover, it had no roads that connected to other parts of the country.

Kuala Belatit was lost to Japan during the Second World War but was again restored to Brunei after few years. The town of Kuala Belatit prospered in the reign of late Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin. A large number of buildings and hotels were built around the town after the independence.

Popular Places
It has number of tourist attractions which include The Silver Jubilee Park and Beach situated along the South China Sea. This overwhelming place is a must see for every traveller. It was built to celebrate twenty five years reign of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

The Kuala Belatit boat club is an excellent place to visit. Do not forget to visit “Istana Mangelella”, the residence of sultan in Belatit district. One can take a passenger ferry across the Belatit River too for serene way of enjoying the location.

Getting Around
Ferries and water taxis are prime modes of transport in Kuala Belatit. One can take ferries to witness the scenic beauty across the river during the journey. There is no provision of trains in Kuala Belatit district, although one can take bus but there are no direct buses to move around you need to change buses to reach desired destinations.

Places of Entertainment
Sadly Kuala Belatit doesn’t have any night life, though one can visit the scenic beauty during the day time. It has some shopping arcades here and there. There are some Chinese restaurants worth a visit.

The official currency of Brunei is Brunei dollar. Brunei dollar is at the par with Singapore dollar, one can get the current exchange rates via news or internet.
