From Pudong (PVG) airport: A taxi will cost around 160RMB and will
take about an hour. The Maglev (super fast) train will take you to
Longyang road station, transfer to line 2 and take the metro to People's Square.
From the main railway station: take metro line 1 south to People's
Square. A taxi will cost around 20RMB
From the South railway station: take metro line 1 north to People's
Square or taxi costs about 55RMB
From Hong-qiao airport (SHA): By bus No.925 to People's Square Station
or taxi costs about 55RMB
From People's Square metro station, take exit 1 and walk along Xizang
road keeping the park on your right hand side. Cross over Wusheng road
and continue straight ahead. After a minute, you will see a pedestrian
overpass in front of you. Go up the stairs and bear left. Cross over
Xizang road and take the stairs down to the right. Yunnan road is the
first right hand turning. There's a beautiful restaurant styled like a
Mosque to help show you the way!

Phoenix Shanghai Hostel.
The Phoenix is a small independent hostel in the centre of Shanghai. We provide great value hotel standard accommodation at hostel prices in an amazing location.
Our hostel is on south Yunnan road, also known as Yunnan food street because of its amazing selection of restaurants. We love our location and not just for the food! We are very close to People's Square metro station (a 5 minute walk). It's a perfect place for sightseeing, shopping, people watching, exploring and getting to the far corners of this huge city.
From our hostel, you can walk to the following major sites within 15 minutes:
The Bund - the famous stretch of buildings on the bank of the Huangpu river
Shanghai museum, Shanghai art gallery, Shanghai museum of modern art, Shanghai urban planning exhibition centre, People's Square, People's Park
Yuyuan (jade garden), city God temple, White Cloud taoist temple and the old town
Huaihai road, Xintiandi and Dongtai road antique market
We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible. All our rooms are en-suite and have free internet access. All our rooms have windows and air con/heating systems. We have comfortable double beds, bright single rooms and excellent dormitory rooms for those on tighter budgets. We have computers available for everyone to use.

Our rooftop lounge area is a great place to relax after spending a day exploring Shanghai. A chilled out space to meet new friends, read books from our free selection, play games or plan your next party.
On the first floor of our building you can visit our Shanxi restaurant and enjoy the wide variety of dishes from this area - it's probably very different from the Chinese food you have in your home country. It's delicious and cheap - what more could you ask for?
We hope that our guests will make the most of their time in China - a country with an interesting and diverse culture. The Phoenix also holds a culture lounge, a great place to relax and learn more about China. The Phoenix Lounge offers long term courses to people living in Shanghai, but for our hostel guests we can arrange short culture classes in:
- Mandarin Chinese
- Majong
- Chinese brush painting

Cancellation Policy
You must give the accommodation ay least 24 hours notice of any change and/or cancellation of your booking, otherwise you will be charged for the first night of your stay and any remaining nights will be cancelled.
