Ecuador, which lies in the centre of the world, is one of the smallest countries in South America. It is home to many UNESCO World Heritage sites and its amazing landscape including thick forests, pacific coast, glaciated volcanoes etc is truly incredible.

History:
Human civilization was in existence in Ecuador from times unknown. The country derives it names from its proximity to Equator. Its history is marked with numerous wars and it was under the Spanish Empire for long and got its independence in 1822. Few decades of war with Peru over Amazon basin and military regime dominated Ecuador in the late 20th century. Democracy finally was achieved in 1979.

Undoubtedly the most beautiful city of Ecuador is Cuenca and is truly a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its European style architecture, parks, monuments and the entire atmosphere is very adorable. One of the biggest museums in Ecuador is Museo Pumapungo, where one can have an insight into culture and history of the country. Visitors can view some astonishing architecture at Catedral de la Inmaculata. Lovely and colorful parks at Parque Calderón attract many visitors as well.

Amazing water front at Malecon 2000, Guayaquil is a must visit when in Ecuador. The Iguana Park is the most visited park where the giant, 4 to 5 feet measuring Iguanas are the major attraction. The beautiful church, Iglesia de San Antonio, especially in night with illuminating lights in Riobamba will be long cherished. To watch some amazing landscape and views, one must visit Latacunga.

Getting Around:
Ecuador is well connected by rail and road. Quito has international airport and getting around is aided by cars, buses and also by troles. Cuenca is domestically well connected by air and bus. A well informed guide can be of great use to explore the country.
