History:
Zabbar was mostly under the French and British rule and many forts and batteries were built during these periods.
Popular Places:
The statue of ‘Our lady of Graces’ in the parish church is much worshiped and the fest in September each year is a major event in Zabbar. It includes motorcycle and bicycle pilgrimage and is teemed with locals and visitors. Sanctuary museum depicts rich history of the place. It exhibits ex-voto paintings, Knight Grandmasters' carriages and artifacts. Hompesch' Arch at the entrance of the city marks the celebration of ‘city’ title given by Grandmaster of the Knights. At the edge of the city is the Notre Dame gate which is believed to have a treasure in its bust.
