The buildings around Senado Square are classic Portuguese style as Macau is an old Portugese Colony, the architecture is beautiful and two if the most popular buildings are Leal Senado Building and the Church Holy House of Mercy.
The combination Portuguese and Chinese merge together and make Macao a unique holiday destination where ancient Temples and monuments and ornate architectural buildings stand side by side and neither one looks out of place.
While wandering the streets of Macao enjoying what’s on offer its easy to imagine times gone by when the temples and monuments were newly built.
One of the most exciting times of year to visit Macau is during the Chinese New Year, it’s the biggest and boldest celebration in the Chinese Calender, everywhere in Macai is decorated with Red and Gold Latearns and fire crackers can be heard all over the place, in the main square Dragon dancers entertain the crowds and there is also a parade, traditional sweets and treats can be bought and enjoyed by locals and visitors a like. The evenings celebrations are topped off with elaborate fireworks displays.
