Tips on How to Save Money in Paris & still see all the sights

Hey, you got to Paris! Congratulations! Sadly enough the global economic crisis hits us all and we need to save money even when on vacation. Paris is a great European city to visit but there are tricks on how to save money but still visit the major sites.

First of all the big problem is the season. Most romantics would say the perfect season to visit the city of love is spring with all the nature rebirthing and the rest of the people believe the best time of the year for Paris Holiday is summer because of the best weather conditions. Yes, they are right, but we’re here to save you money, we recommend the off-season. This would be the time between November and April. It is then that Paris costs less.

The first thing you need to know when visiting Paris is the Paris Pass. It gives you free access for 60 attractions. It is doubtful that you will be able to visit them all for two days since the pass is only for two days. The pass costs around 85 Euros for adults (roughly $130) and it gives you two things in advance – you can ride the metro for free and you skip all lines when visiting an attraction.

The main attractions you want to see are the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, The Louvre, The Paris Exhibition and Bateaux Parisiens River Cruise. Those five without the two days pass will cost you roughly 50 Euros ($80). There is one thing you need to know about The Louvre though – if you go on Wednesday of Friday late in the day you have a discount of up to 3 Euros and every first Sunday of the month is free.

There is one more thing you need to know. There are places in Paris you can go to and not a pay dime to see them. One of them is the Notre Dame Cathedral. You need to pay a tax to visit the towers of the cathedral or walk in the museum but you can visit the inside of the cathedral for free. Furthermore you can see the Eiffel Tower for, well $0. Yes, you need to pay a price to right to the top, but you can see whole Paris from the plane while landing so why would you like to wait in line just to see something you have already payed for.

Ah, the food in Paris. It is legendary. Well, there is one thing you need to know regarding the food – do not eat close to any attractions or tourist sites because that would make the food expensive but not necessarily tasteful. If you want to have good meals on a reasonable price try out the Chez Clement restaurant chain. Last but not least have in mind that in the evening the prices go up. So if you want to have a nice dinner do it while it is still bright outside, you will save some money!
