London Eye A Great Attraction and Must Visit Place in London

The London Eye started out life as the Millennium Wheel, which was initially designed as a temporary Ride for the New Year Celebrations for 2000, but the huge popularity of the Wheel has now made the London Eye one of the established tourist sights and land marks of central London. The London Eye is now among the top place to visit for travellers and holiday makers in London.

The London Eye is a 120 metre high Ferris wheel with 32 huge oval capsules representing the boroughs in London, each capsule can hold up to 25 people and the slow moving wheel means people can just walk on and off the ride at the base.

Located on the banks of the River Thames just by County Hall, Westminster Bridge, London Aquarium, St Thomas Hospital, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament the London Eye offers awesome views of city of London, on a clear day you can see for miles.

A ride on the London Eye takes about 30 minutes and price of a ticket varies, the London Eye is also hired out for many corporate events, but if you don’t want to take a ride, there are a lot of other things to do nearby, around the base of the London eye on the Embankment there are lots of Street performers and during summer there are also some small fair ground rides, there is also a grassed park area ideal for picnics and relaxing.

Just behind the London eye there are some good restaurants, cafes and bars, there are also some luxury Hotels like the London Marriott Hotel County Hall, Premier Inn London County Hall and Park Plaza Hotel for those who want to be within walking distance to many of the sights.
