Backpacking to me is not only about going and travelling to new places, visiting famous landmarks and taking pictures, it’s also about the whole experience of backpacking. A major part of the Backpacking experience and what attracts such a diverse array of people to it, is socializing, swapping stories, making new friends and freedom of being in a new place..

Like most backpackers, when I arrive in a new Hostel Accommodation, I secure my locker, take a quick shower and head straight to the Common room, Games room or the Hostel’s Bar. These are always the best places to meet people, and because they are always busy you are sure to meet someone who has similar interests.

I know I may sound a bit paranoid but you can never be too careful, I always am very careful about who I make friends with when I’m away backpacking, its not as if I don’t talk to lots of people, far from it I am always chatting, but I never get too involved with anyone, so the word is, be careful, making new friends doesn’t necessarily mean you have to trust strangers.

I love the backpacking scene and you can gain a lot of great snippets of information from other travellers. Backpacking is all about feeing free to go where you want, and in the same way you are free to socialize with people who you would never have met sitting at home or in your local bar.

I am a backpacker through and through, the call of different places is always calling to my curious natures and even as I get older I will never stop travelling.
