Public Transport Strike in Italy

Travel Chaos in Italy

Travelling around Italy today was not as smooth as usual to put it lightly, Italy was hit by a public transport strike, some trains were affected and most buses were not running leaving many stranded. To make matters even worse in Rome, heavy rain made finding alternative transport even harder and made taxis in high demand.

The slight inconvenience caused by the buses and trains, was nothing compared to the  problems and chaos causes in the air, many flights were delayed and dozons were cancelled.

The Public transport strike called by the Cobas Union, was in protest to a deal struck by Italy's three main union confederations and the government. The agreement will mean a progressive rise in the retirement age. It has also increased short-term contracts in the workplace.
