200 Flights Cancelled by American Airlines
American Airline has cancelled 200 Flights Nationwide, throughout America, on Morning of Wednesday 26th March 2008; the flights were cancelled due to an electrical fault found by the FAA during a Voluntary Safety Inspection of the MD80 Planes. In a statement give by American Airline they said that the MD80 Air Crafts were grounded due to question had arisen "concerning how a certain bundle of wires" had been secured in the aircraft.
The grounded planes will undergo an inspection that will take a couple of hours and then go back into service once the wiring that has caused the concern has been checked and all other checks have been performed.
The FAA are also going to check the Safety records for the MD80 planes to ensure the right procedures were followed during the last scheduled inspections.
The cancellation of the flights has caused a lot of havoc through out America, for around 26,000 airline travellers and has raised questions into the safety checks being performed by American Airlines as well as other Air Line Operators.
The trust airline travellers have in the safety of the aircrafts and the safety procedures in place by the airline operators, have taken a hard blow today, and American Airlines will have to regain the trust of its passengers, by ensuring all aircrafts are serviced and safety checked regularly made.
