Emergency Landing By Qantas 747 in Manila Philippines, due to ruptured fuselage.

A Qantas 747 plane from London to Melbourne, via Hong Kong was forced to make an emergency Landing in Manila after a gaping hole was left in the plane when part of the fuselage ruptured.

Passengers are reported to of heard a loud bang, and then oxygen masks dropped, there was a massive rush of air and then debris began to fly around in the cabin.

The Pilot managed to control the plane but not until after the plane had dropped about 19,000 ft in altitude, the pilot then managed to make an emergency landing in Manila and all 346 Passengers and 19 crew landed safely unharmed.

It was only when all the passengers a crew had disembarked the Qantas 747, that the size of the hole in the plane could be seen, many passengers began to cry and become faint with the thought of the disaster that had been adverted and what could have happened.

The Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority and Boeing Safety Inspectors are investigating to see what may have caused the Gaping hole in the Boeing 747 Plane. One area of investigation is the Oxygen Cylinders in the Cargo Bay of the 747; an exploding oxygen cylinder may have been responsible for the gaping hole in the fuselage next to planes the right wing.

Chemical oxygen generators were the cause of the fatal crash of Valujet 592 in 1996, the plane plunged into the Florida Everglades killing all 110 people aboard the plane. The explosion caused a fire that reached over 2,000 Fahrenheit, hot enough to melt steel.

Qantas is still one of the safest Airlines with their last crash back in 1951. Although this emergency landing by the 747 has raised some questions into the safety and air worthiness of some of their older planes, that may be in need of refurbishment or decommissioning.

The question that is now being asked is, if these airlines are now putting passengers at risk in order to save money, due to high cost of fuel.
