Emirates Airline first Airbus A380 Superjumbo Jet 28 July 2008

Emirates the Dubai Based Airline took delivery of their first of 58 Airbus A380 Superjumbo Aircrafts on 28 July 2008, from Airbus Hamburg in elaborate hand-off ceremony in northern Germany. The First Airbus A380 was handed over to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Hundreds of Emirates staff.

The A380 Aircraft was delivered 21 Months late due to wiring problems that needed to be corrected before the aircraft could be delivered.

This Airbus A380 Superjumbo Jet is at the height of luxury and comfort and a spokesman for Emirates airline said it's the only commercial airline in the world equipped with showers. This aircraft is more like a flying hotel it also features spas, bars, lounges and private suites accommodation for passengers.

The majority of the 58 Airbus A380 fleet will be in a typical three-class configuration, the aircraft can seat and accommodate about 525 people.

The new A380 Superjumbo Aircraft in Emirates fleet will enhance the travel and holiday experience for Emirates passengers.

The maiden flight of the A380 is due to take off on 1 August 2008 on a Dubai to New York Flight.
