XL Leisure
XL Leisure Group Plc has gone into administration, leaving thousands of Customers Stranded
Over 80,000 XL Leisure customers are stranded around the world in about 50 Countries, all of the companies 21 planes have been grounded.
Most customers will have booked their holiday with XL Leisure as a package deal, Fight and Hotel Accommodation all inclusive, with a travel agent; they will be covered by their insurance from the Air Travel Organisers Licensers (ATOL). This should pay for their flights back to Britain, but they may be waiting at Airports for days, waiting for seats on other airlines.

XL Customers that paid by Credit card are protected by section 75 of consumer credit act 1974, those that paid with Visa Debit Card, may also be protected by Visa, but should check with their card Issuer for further details
Customers that booked directly with XL.com or through the XL Direct telephone booking system are not covered by ATOL and are not entitles to a refund for their flight.
Customers that booked through Medlife Hotels are not covered by ATOL.
Over 200,000 customers pre-booked their Holiday and travel planes with XL Leisure and all these advanced booked are now cancelled leaving thousands of people disappointed and out of pocket.
The third largest package holiday company in Britain, the UK based Travel Company XL Leisure has declared Bankruptcy, at about 3 am today UK Time, stating that, as a result of volatile fuel prices, the economic downturn, and unable to obtain further funding from banks and investors, Barclays Bank pulled funding in Mid August.
All these companies are part of XL Leisure group Plc, and are all in administration
