Today 18th July 2011 is the 93rd birthday of Nelson Mandela and a national holiday in South Africa, the whole country celebrates Mandela Day.
Thousands of South African school children across the country sang happy birthday to Nelson Mandela and wished him a happy 93rd birthday.
Nelson Mandela has not been seen in public since the World Cup in South Africa, but several pictures of him celebrating his birthday with family and friends have been released.
Nelson Mandela, also known as Madiba, a nickname taken from his clan is an inspiration to all South African’s and everyone round the world, his struggle against apartheid and final triumph to become the first black president of South Africa is an amazing journey.
South Africa has now become a popular travel and holiday destination offering a wide range of budget accommodation and luxury hotels as well as many attractions and things to do, this popularity would not have been possible if apartheid was still in affect in South Africa.
