Caracas is the largest city and the capital of Venezuela which ensures the best of both the worlds of natural splendour and a modern cityscape. History
An erstwhile Spanish colonial settlement, founded by Diego de Losadam, Caracas is over 400 years old. The growth of the city was mainly due to the oil boom, which saw a dramatic change in the economic structure of the country.

Popular Places
There are many spectacular sights and places to visit. Take a pleasant trip by cable car up the Avila Mountain that over look the city to enjoy the spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea and the sprawling city beneath; or browse through the colonial riches of El Conde. Take a peek at its rich history at Natal de Bolívar Museum and the national Gallery of Art and Caracas Museum of Fine Art that has a rich collection Venezuelan, Latin American and international art and culture that depict the city’s colonial past.

Getting Around
The travel guide of Caracas features an efficient and well well-maintained Metro system, which ensures easy access to all parts of the city. There are small buses called “Carritos” and taxis are equally popular as the fares are reasonable.

Places of Entertainment
The city centre has many upscale bars, casino, nightclubs and adult entertainment options to spice up your late hours. If shopping is your priority head straight to Bernadino, Parque Central, known for its shopping centres. The Sabana Grande area is famous for its many Latino dance places, pubs and salsa clubs.

Currency
The currency is Bolivar, a paper currency of 100 centimos and the foreign exchange controls have fixed an official rate of exchange against the U.S. dollar. Money exchange can be done through exchange houses or commercial banks. Keep yourselves updated through online and financial news.
