History
The name Moalboal is thought to have originated from the word bukal-bukal. The legend goes that once a foreigner happened to ask the name of this city to a woman with a cleft lip. Mistaking that he was asking about the fresh water spring, she told bukal-bukal, which sounded like Moalboal to the foreigner.
