History
The Colon City of Panama was founded in the year 1850 by American workers. The city is nearly 150 years old with a glorious historical background to its credit. After the completion of the railway works in 1855, Colon gained prime importance as a new Caribbean Port. During that time, the city was also effectively sanitized and cleansed of unhygienic swamps and other wastes. Colon Panama endured severe destruction during the civil war in the year 1885 and the riots that happened during 1960.
