History
Norrkoping city has an interesting and medieval history. There was an old 12th centurion church that was devoted to Saint Olaf Norway patron. The city became famous during the 14th century. Wooden and tin houses were initially banned after the horrific fires in 1822 and 1826. Thereafter a prosperous ship industry was started in the late 18th century. The place near the Motala Stream became an industry zone with many mushrooming cotton and paper mill industries. The city has also witnessed the revival of education, trade and cultural traditions at the start of the millennium.
