China Bullet Train

High Speed Trains Have Brought The World Closer Together

In a modern world there is no avoiding travelling, from going to the shops, work or travelling on Holiday. One of the major factors that decide how we travel is the time it takes to get to our destination, walking, bus, cars, subways, trains and planes are all essential to enable us to travel with ease.

Trains are one of the most efficient ways to travel long distances over land, there is no traffic on railway lines and the only stops are at stations along the line, depending on the country and route there is a vast different between the trains used, there are the usual trains that travel on average 40 mph, and now there are high speed trains that travel around 300 kilometres per hour cutting travel times drastically, bringing different cities and countries closer together.

There are different high speed train networks around the world in Europe (France TGV & Eurostar), Asia (China Bullet Train & Japan Maglev Train) and North America and there are lines under construction in Algeria and Morocco.

China has opened the world’s longest high speed railway line, from China’s capital city Beijing to Guangzhou the bullet trains travels at an average speed of 300 kilometres per hour.

The Bullet Train has cut the 2,298km journey time from Beijing to Guangzhou from 22 hours to just 8 hours.

Ticket prices are a premium for the journey between Beijing and Guangzhou with Standard Tickets to travel on the Bullet trains cost about £86 which is 2 times as much as a bunk on an older train, though the price is still a bit cheaper than most flights. While business class tickets on the line cost around £270.

The introduction of high speed trains have cut train journey times drastically and have brought the world closer together, allowing people to travel longer distances in a shorter amount of time.
