City Alajuela- The Party Hub with a Difference
Alajuela is the vibrant capital city of the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica is the second largest city of Costa Rica. From a crammed festival calendar, exciting coffee tours, sports options and outdoor fun, it is a downright party town sans the hustle and bustle of a typical tourist hub.
History
In the pre-Columbian era, this city was inhabited by a small population of the natives before the first Spanish settlers made this their base in 1650. The Constitution was circulated in the Spanish Parliament in 1812. Alajuela was the Porto Rica’s capital from 1834 to 1835, before San Jose was made the capital.

Jaun Santamaria museum is a popular tourist spot, which was set up in 1974 to honor Costa Rica's national hero, Juan Santamaria, who lost his life defending Costa Rica against American invasion.
