City Bucharest- Vibrant and Upbeat 

Bucharest is the capital city of Romania apart from being the largest city and the economical hub of Romania. Located on the banks of the Dâmboviţa River, Bucharest is well known for its Belle Époque buildings and the pretty streets where the past rub shoulder with the present- From the 19th century neo classical building to the chic shopping options and fashionable parks and mansion, Bucharest is a city of contrasts!

History
The civilization of Bucharest dates back to as early as 1459. It became the Romanian capital in 1862 and evolved to be the cultural and economic hub of the nation. Though the World wars, natural calamities and the authoritarian rule of Nicolae Ceauşescu's destroyed the historic richness of the city; the bounced back to become the vibrant capital of Romania.

Popular Places
Bucharest is a treasure trove of architectural elegance and charm. The Arch of Triumph was originally built in 1922 as a wooden structure to honour the Romanian soldiers of the World War I. The Arc is 85 feet high and the visitors can enjoy the panoramic view of the city by climbing to the top of this structure. Sculptures of many noted artists including Ion Jalea and Constantin embellish the arc. Cantacuzino Palace is another important tourist attraction in Bucharest. Built by one of the wealthiest citizen of the country, Grigore Cantacuzino, this palace was built in 1898 in neo classical architectural style. At present it houses the George Enescu Museum, which has a rich collection of artefacts of Romania.

Getting around:
Metro trains, mini buses, trolley buses, trams, taxis, scooter hire and boats are the various transportation options in this city. A good guide to hassle free travel is to have some change free to have some change handy to pay for your travel.

Places of entertainment
Bucharest has a cracking nightlife that unveils in its many nightclubs, bars and casinos at sundown. Located at easy walking distance of each other, these offer diverse options for club hoppers. There are strip joints and cabaret shows as well to add spice to your party. The city of Bucharest is fabled for its jazz and blues clubs and live entertainment options, which draw performers from far and wide. The city has an impressive festival calendar as well with many red letter days including the International Opera Festival and the George Enescu Classical Music Festival among others.
