Eisenach in

History:
Eisenach came into existence in the 12th century, when three settlements below the Wartburg Castle merged to form it in the form of a town. It was after the Thuringian War of Succession that the city came under the influence of Wettin dynasty. In the year 1809, the city was included as the part of the duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach.
A number of historical events are associated with this city. Martin Luther lived in the city for some time in the 16th century. The city is also the birth place of Johann Sebastian Bach. Apart from this, the city also witnessed the formation of Social Democratic Part of Germany in the year 1869. It was also honoured with the name of ‘The City of Automotive Engineering’, as cars like Dixi and Wartburg were manufactured here.
