Hacienda Papagayo is a 180-year old farm, located in the Interandino valley in the western highlands, in the midst of the Avenue of the volcanoes. Only 45 minutes south of Quito, close to the town of Machachi, The hosteria is located in beautiful fields and offers perfect view points for the surrounding volcanoes.

Hosteria Papagayo offers different types of rooms for our clients. Some of the rooms come equipped with privet bathrooms, a fireplace and central heating for our exclusive clients as well as shared rooms for students and adventure tourists.

Hosteria Papagayo provides not only a prefect atmosphere in which to relax, but also offers an ideal place to acclimatize, at 3,200 meters above sea level.

History of the hosteria: In 1829 the Marquis of Solanda and Villarocha, who was the wife of Mariscal Antonio Jose de Sucre, owned these lands and it was here where they celebrated the Easter holiday of the year. In 1933 Don Miguel Angel Benalcazar, great grandson of "the libertador" Simon Bolivar bought parts of these lands and named them "Hacienda la Bolivia". The famous battles that lead to the beginning of the liberation took place in these shepherd's fields where Papagayo stands today.

Boyaca, Pichincha, Carabobo, Tarqui, Ayacucho, Junin and Cotopaxi, cherish those who gave their own blood for the liberation, the Conquistadors and the Liberator.

You must give the accommodation at least 48 hours notice of any change and/or cancellation of your booking, otherwise you will be charged for the first night of your stay and any remaining nights will be cancelled.

Hosteria Papagayo a Cheap and Inexpensive Place to Stay in Quito Ecuador

Ways to get to Hosteria Papagayo: By car: Hacienda la Bolivia, Panamericana Sur Km.43 Take the Panamericana sur highway from Quito towards Machaci, past the toll station of Machaci 500 meaters to the right. By bus: From terminal sur (Quitumbe) in Quito every bus that go to the south (LatacungaRiobambaAmbatoBaños, etc.). After the toll station of Machaci (aprox.500 meter) ask the bus driver to drop you near the sign of Hosteria Papagayo on the right side of the road. Or you can stop in the bus station of Machaci and take a taxi (4-5$) By taxi: a direct taxi from Quito is the fastest and easiest way to get to Hosteria Papagayo 25-30$. Anyhow in case you need help you can call to Papagayo and we can help you to arrange transportation from everywhere.
