Interlaken – Plenty of Outdoor Sports Residing in Alps

A picturesque small city in Bernese Highlands of Central Switzerland, Interlaken has its location between Brienz and Thun, the two famous Alpine Lakes in the region of Alps. History:
Interlaken was previously famous as the town with the convent site of Augustinian Canons. Built in the 12th century, the convent remained as significant part of the city till 1528. Interlaken was known with another name Aarmuhle till 1891. Some of the popular past activities of the city include printing and watch making. However, the tourism industry of the city has made it one of the most visited holiday destinations of Switzerland.

The cableway called Harder Kulm can be used to view the unlimited beauty of Jungfrau region. St. Beatus Caves are other wonderful tourist destinations made up of limestone. One can find stalagmites and waterfalls at this place.

Getting Around:
Bikes and taxis can be hired to explore the city. However, one can choose walking as the best way to move around the city, which is very small and offers best views when explored on foot. Boat services in the lakes can be used to have an enjoyable ride, a guide is always on board to show you round.
