City Miramar in Argentina: Young City with Rich History
Initially planned as the city for families and children, with many open spaces, for better housing, its Spanish name is la Ciudad de los Niños y de las bicicletas which means city of children and bicycles. It is located 450 km south of Buenos Aires, in Buenos Aires province, along the coastline of Atlantic Ocean, is also a capital of General Alvarado Partido.
History
In 1887, Jose María Dupuy, Rómulo Otamendi (engineer) and the owner of the land, Fortunato de la Plaza (who acquired the land in 1870) decided to build the city of Miramar. On 20th September 1888, Miramar was founded, with the construction of first church leading up in 1889. On September 29, 1891, the Partido of General Alvarado was created, and Miramar was selected as its capital. In 1911, railway station, golf course and a hotel were established later in the same locality, and in 1920, airplane arrived in the town for the first time.
Popular Places and Monuments
Museo Punta Hermengo is a museum, one of the famous natural history museums in Argentina. Miramar Golf course, whose construction started in 1927, is one of the oldest places in this overall young city.
Around 5 square kilometer of woodland area, Vivero F. Ameghino, is one of the interesting regions in the city. Autodromo Roberto Hirch de Miramar is a motor racing venue for high speed racing, overall 1.47/1.72 km in length. In the south of Miramar, there are 12 kilometers of sand dunes, where you can rent a shared truck, and practice sand boarding.
The Médano Blanco is a white dune, one of the tallest dunes close to La Totora brook. Beaches, cliffs, brooks and wood provide breath-taking visuals on the coastline between Miramar and Mar del Plata. There is an ecological reserve, few beaches within Miramar, and a couple of rivers, Durazno and Brusquitas, known for their beauty.

There is bus, and subway system in place for getting around Buenos Aires. Tram and light rail are also in place in the area. Also, car and bike rentals are available. A

Pan-American games have mountain biking in Miramar, along with other important and international games. Along with that, fishing, surfing, sand boarding, playing golf, etc are other interesting activities one may indulge in the place. It offers huge scope for sports.
