About This Hostel
Backpacker East Africa.
Backpacker East Africa runs several budget traveller accommodations ranging from homestays to guesthouses to apartments around Kampala to suit the various needs. The various locations allow flexibility of proximity to the guest's place of interest and all our rooms satisfy tourist standards coupled with the social experience and warm hospitality of the hosts.

Homestays
We provide all sorts of homestays, from backpacker style dormitory rooms, to single rooms, double rooms and even self-contained suites. Although these are placements with host families, usually the accommodation is in different quarters on the family grounds and so there is a degree of independence with the host family only providing company and also ensuring proper conduct from the house guests/ residents. The guest determines the level of interaction but the hosts are always available when needed. In-house homestays are mostly suitable for females in which case they sleep in the family girls' rooms or an internal guest room, whichever applies. Independent off-house "boys" quarters, are suitable for either sexes. In Uganda "boys' quarters are meant to house the boys when they turn 18 years of age and move out of the family house. All our host homes are in quiet, secure neighborhoods in Kampala, accessible to public transport and at most, no more than 20 minutes from the city center.
Rentals and Apartments
The rentals and apartments are mostly suited to those on extended stays in Uganda for instance scholars, expatriates and retirees. It's also cost-effective for group travelers or families as it allows flexibility in room sleeping arrangements that are non-existent in hotels or would otherwise be greatly costly. All our properties are secure and fully furnished, furthermore one has the option of co-sharing to cut rent costs or have the full house to themselves. Typically houses in Uganda have three (3) bedrooms.

Cancellation Policy
You must give the accommodation ay least 24 hours notice of any change and/or cancellation of your booking, otherwise you will be charged for the first night of your stay and any remaining nights will be cancelled.

How to Get There
One takes Masaka road after making the turn from Entebbe road at the Kibuye round-about. One then turns off at Kabuusu which is 2 kms from the roundabout or at Nalukolongo Market which is 1 km ahead of that. From there the signposts will get you there, a kilometer away and near the local police station.
