History
The city was the part of Mexican region that was known as Ekab or Black Earth in the past. For most of the history, the place was occupied by Spanish people. It was only in 1967 that the city of Cancun was discovered by the Mexican government as the centre for tourism industry. In fact, first few hotels of the city were developed by the government itself. The Mayan Temple is famous for its female figures made up of clay. Dedicated to Goddess Maya, the place currently exists as the ruins of the temple.

The turtle farm Isla Mujeres is the fun place to visit, if you want to explore various varieties of turtles. Park Las Palapas is the place that can be visited for small family picnics. Cancun is well-known for accommodating a number of beaches, the two most famous being Playa Delfines and Playa Langosta.

Excellent bus services are available to connect various spots within the city and a good guide is to have some small notes and coins handy to pay the exact bus fare. Apart from that, one can also choose taxis or car rentals to get around the city conveniently.

Backstage Theatre is one of the entertainment spots in the city, known for hosting fashion shows, drag shows and musical performance. Swimming, snorkelling and spending time on beaches are some of the great entertainment activities offered by the city. Swim with Dolphins is one great experience that should not be missed.
