The hostel is named after the sacred peak Mama Simona – the only female mountain deity among twelve others surrounding Cusco.

Mama Simona Hostel is like a good conversation over a cup of coca tea rather than a wild party; a comfortable and welcoming refuge away from the standard "just-another-hostel" kind of place; simple wooden furniture and lots of room rather than cramped kitschy interiors.

Staying with Mama Simona in Cusco is like being invited into the warmth of a Peruvian home. The hostel's facilities and services include free breakfast and Wi-Fi, cozy, well-equipped guest kitchen, computer room with internet, lounge with books and games, hot showers at any time of day, large lockers, friendly 24 hour reception, plenty of useful information on tourism and activities, room service, fresh coffee and coca tea, luggage storage and more.

A complimentary basic breakfast is served each morning. It includes bread, strawberry jam, butter, coca tea, coffee, hot water and fresh orange or papaya juice. Extras like omelette or scrambled eggs, cheese or ham, hot sandwich or milk can be ordered for a small fee. If you'd like to save on accommodation and spend more on activities, Mama Simona offers dorms of all sizes: 8, 6, 4 and even 2 beds with private or shared bathroom.

If a bit more privacy is your thing but breaking the bank isn't, Mama Simona has affordable double rooms with shared bathrooms. Or if you really want to treat yourself, you could also opt for one of Mama's matrimonial rooms with cable TV, bedside tables, reading lights and private bathrooms. Towels, shampoo and soap are provided as well.

All the rooms described include free breakfast and internet and are furnished with lockers large enough to fit a 95 liter backpack in addition to all of your treasures and souvenirs (remember to bring your own lock). Room service and cleaning are daily.

Please note that we do not provide heaters, but rent them out. The cost of heater per night is S/10 ($3.8). Ask for one at the reception.

You'll find Mama Simona on a quiet street in the historical center of Cusco five blocks away from the main square (Plaza de Armas) and a pleasant several minutes stroll from most museums, galleries, churches, shops and restaurants. Among other things, a large supermarket, cheap laundry service and the famous San Pedro Market are just around the corner.

The area is bursting with colonial mansions and streets, churches built on Inca foundations, and local foods. Dedicated walkers can get to the magnificent fortress of Saqsayhuaman in about 25-30 minutes, whereas dedicated taxi riders can reach it in 10. Three to four hours by bus and/or by train will get you to Aguas Calientes – the immediate premises of Machu Picchu.

Cancelation Policy

You must give the accommodation at least 48 Hours notice of any change and/or cancellation of your booking, otherwise you will be charged for the first night of your reservation and the remaining nights will be cancelled

From the airport or bus terminal by taxi. Taxis are a good option and should not cost more than 15 soles from the airport and 5 soles from the bus terminal. However, if you want to be picked up on time by a trusted driver, we can arrange pick-up service for you. From the airport by bus. From the street directly in front of the airport you can catch a combi (small bus or van), which will take you to a stop close to San Pedro market. There are several types of combis; the ones you should look for are Correcaminos or C4M. From the Market take Desamparados street uphill, which in the second block becomes Ceniza. Mama Simona is to your right. Time to destination: 25-30 minutes. From the terminal by bus. After exiting the terminal and the front gate, you'll see the railroad tracks with some steps. Crossing the steps will bring you directly to a bus stop, where you can easily catch a combi to the historical center. Correcaminos and Ttio La Florida are two companies that will get you close to San Pedro. Two blocks uphill (first Desamparados Street, then Ceniza), and you are at Mama Simona. Time to destination: 20-25 minutes.
