About This Hostel

Pax Hostel.

PAX is our newly renovated and refurbished 4 story hostel.   It is located in the architectural and cultural district of Montserrat, Buenos Aires, making a simple stroll down the street a visual feast.
Our Argentine/ Australian run hostel blends charm, convenience, friendliness and fun, all the while, never compromising on modern day comforts, cleanliness, and pocket friendly prices.

The streets of Montserrat feature some of Buenos Aires most important buildings and plazas, of which all are considered historic monuments today.  Located within a short distance away, are many tourist areas: San Telmo, Puerto Madero, La Boca, Recoleta, and not to forget the museums, malls, theatres, bars, restaurants and night clubs.

PAX is easily accessible from the bus and train station, and we are only a block and a half away from the subway, which can take you to any key area you fancy away from the city.

Please make sure you read and understand the Terms/Cancellation Policy.

How to Get There

From the bus terminal ( Retiro )

Cheap Option: Subway (1,10 pesos)

Once you have arrived at the bus station, enter inside the terminal and head right. Keep walking until you see a ramp, walk down the ramp and you'll be outside. Turn right and walk approximately 4 minutes until you see a little flea market outside a huge old building which is the train station. In front of it, you will have the subway station. Purchase a ticket for 1,10 pesos and board the "C" Line (also known as blue line). The subway from this stop only go one direction, so either wagon will do

Once you have begun the journey on the subway, travel 6 stations (Saint Martin, Lavalle, Diagonal Norte, Avenida de Mayo, Mariano Moreno, Independencia.) You need to get off at Independencia, walk to the end of a long corridor, and exit via a staircase.  Once outside, you will find a Shell service station on the corner of Estados Unidos and Lima. Continue walking down Estados Unidos until you reach Salta (only one block), turn left, and look for us at 990 Salta.

It is among the Estados Unidos street and Carlos Calvo.
In short, walk to the subway station, take line "C", get off at Independencia, look for Salta street, and walk two blocks from until you arrive at PAX.

Expensive Option: Taxi (35 pesos)
Once you get off the bus, enter the Bus terminal. You will find the main hall. If you go to the first floor, and then take one of the exits, you will see the official taxis from the city of Buenos Aires (Official taxis in Buenos Aires have a yellow roof and the body of the car is painted in black). Before you get in the taxi, arrange the fare with the driver. Be aware of them saying that they will not know exactly how much it will cost and that they have a meter (this is a good excuse to make take you on the most expensive city tour you will find). The fare is roughly 35 pesos and it will take up to 30 minutes to get to the hostel.

From the Domestic Airport of Ciudad de Buenos Aires (Jorge Newbery)

Option I - 15 Pesos-

Cheaper than the second option but not recommended due to the amount of waiting time or the complex of the route to make. Once landed at the airport, you will see some transfer companies offering their service (they are located right in front of the baggage claim), One of these is called Manuel Tienda Leon , which will transfer you from the Jorge Newberry Domestic Airport to their Headquarters in Puerto Madero. They will offer a shuttle bus or a private car, you have to get the shuttle bus. Their main office is located just in front of the Bus Station (also known as Retiro)

You need to cross the park "Fuerza Aerea Argentina ", and make your way to Retiro subway (it is in front of a Huge Building which is the train station as well). Once there you need to take Line "C" or the blue line. The cost is $1.10 pesos

Option II: taxi (40/45 pesos).

As soon exit the Aeroparque, you will see a long queue of taxis (transfer companies within the airport, are more expensive). Before boarding any taxi, first agree on the fare with the driver (it is around 35/40 pesos) and then tell them that our address is: Salta 990 between Estados Unidos and .Carlos Calvo. Depending on traffic, it may take up to an hour.

From Ezeiza International Airport.

Option 1: Transfer Company ($45 pesos)-Only if you're travelling solo.

This alternative is economical only if you're travelling alone. Inside the airport there are some transfer companies (the best is called Manuel Tienda Leon). This company has a shuttle bus which goes to its own terminal in Retiro (Puerto Madero) near the bus terminal.

Once you arrive at Retiro, you need to cross the park "Fuerza Aerea Argentina ", and make your way to Retiro subway. Once there you need to take Line "C" or the blue line. The cost is $1.10 pesos

Cheap Option 2: Taxi (80/90 pesos ) 2 or more people.

If you are two or more people travelling together, the best option is to take a taxi. If you prefer, send us an e-mail before your departure, stating your arrival time and exact flight number, and a taxi will be waiting with a sign on your behalf.

If you are unsure of your arrival details or simple don't have time to contact us, exit the airport building and you'll see many taxis and transfer services (do not take transfers offered inside the airport as it's very expensive). Before boarding any taxi, first agree on the fare with the driver (it is around 90/100 pesos) and then tell them that our address is: Salta 990 between Estados Unidos and .Carlos Calvo. Depending on traffic, it may take up to an hour.
