City Buenos Aires- The Blend of the Old and the New

City Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and its largest city. This port city that extends south-to-north along the Rio de la Plata is a cultural melting pot of various cultures including Italian, Spanish and German and has been the industrial gateway of Argentina. History
The Spanish settlers who were drawn by the gold and silver deposits of this city were the first settlers of this city. The local nomadic tribes revolted against the Spanish when they were forced to leave this city for a while before they regrouped 1580, when Buenos Aires was re-founded. In 1776, Buenos Aires was declared the capital of the new Viceroyalty, which included Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. After political turmoil and dictatorships, the country’s first election was conducted in 1916.

Government House or Casa Rosada (Pink House) built in 1580 is one of the most prestigious landmarks of this city, which is guarded by an elite army group with ornate uniforms. The cathedral of Rivadavia and San Martín is an impressive neoclassical structure built in the XVIII century. It is the resting place of Liberator General José de San Martín, who fought against the Spanish
