Sandwiched between North East and Central East Florida, it is a different world altogether where the old world charm meets the pace and pulse of the contemporary world. Explore the quaint shops and bars that line the cobble stone streets and soak up the pleasant climate in this port city.
History:
In 1952 the Spanish founded the city of St. Augustine under Admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés. Though there were a few earlier settlements including the West Florida based original Pensacola colony founded by Tristán de Luna y Arellano, all these settlements failed due to natural calamities like famine and hurricanes apart from feuds among the tribes. Later it became a thriving permanent settlement in the continental United States in the year 1565.
