Venice (Venezia) is famous for its Grand Canal, you can take a leisurely trip in a gondola and see so many of the city's palaces and grand buildings from the canal. Venice has six distinctive districts offering varied perspectives on this enchanting city.

Venice is an enchanting city of canals and palaces, monuments and museums. There are many sights to see from Palazzo Ducale, an exceptional building which was the center of Venice's political, social and economic life right from the beginning. Palazzo Ducale was the private residence of the Doge, but it was also the home of the Government's and the Courts' main offices. To the Rialto Bridge which was originally the only permanent connection between the two banks of the Grand Canal.

It always seems like high season in Venice but the busiest time is in high Summer June to August, you need to plan ahead and book your accommodation early if you intend to visit during this time, be prepared for hot weather and Very Large crowds. 

The most pleasant time of year to visit is late March into May, with clear spring days and comparatively fewer crowds. September is the next best in terms of weather, but October is quieter.

Venice is a city to be experienced and enjoyed while you still can, Venice's days could be numbered due to a rapidly rising water level - and costly remedial work that is now underway to save this world treasure from the encroaching sea. For the time being Venice retains the fragile beauty that gives it such rare distinction amongst world cities.
