History of Yerevan:
Yerevan, also known as Erebuni, is the largest Armenian city and the capital of Armenia since 1918. The history of Yerevan dates back to the 8th century when the Erebuni Fortress was built. It expanded in leaps and bounds in the 20th century and has undergone drastic transformation in the last 50 years.
Popular Places and Attractions:
Yerevan has a number of notable attractions to allure the tourists, the primary being The Armenian Genocide Memorial that is dedicated to the victims of the Great Genocide of Armenia of 1915. Trolleybuses are the primary mode of transportation in Yerevan that has been operating in the city since 1949. A good
guide is to keep some small notes and coins handy to pay for your journey. The Yerevan Metro serves the capital city as a rapid transit system.

Shopping at Yerevan is full of excitement and thrill. One can buy host of things from Yerevan. The Armenian Cognac deserves a special mention as it is one of the finest brandies of the world. For a vibrant nightlife, one can visit the Republic Square which gets decked with various stalls at night. Other places that have earned a name in providing unlimited entertainment to tourists are Atlantic Discotheque, Gianni Club, New Cheers Bar, etc.
