The BANANA BUNGALOW HOLLYWOOD is a very popular international destination with a great location. We are right on Hollywood Boulevard in the heart of Hollywood with a view of the Hollywood sign from our courtyard.
You'll be centrally located in Los Angeles and walking distance from all the action and close to the subway and bus stops to get around LA. IT'S AN 'OASIS FOR BACK PACKERS' with all the amenities, activities and events that travellers truly want. This includes a friendly staff to help you, a fun international crowd to hang out with, cool rooms, lots of hip common space, a great vibe and atmosphere, and daily events and activities that supply lots of fun for free or very cheap.
This is a "Cool Hollywood Motel" that has been remodelled into a "colourful retro designed" hostel, and right next door is LA's best Thai restaurant with fantastic $5 lunches and delicious $10 dinners.
ROOMS: Dorms have 6-8 beds with a private bath and its own kitchen, that's right, we are the only hostel in Los Angeles with kitchens available in our dorms. 6 bed dorms have 6 beds in one room, 8 bed dorms have 4 beds in two rooms. They also have a colorful decor plus satellite TV with hundreds of channels and they are all kept very clean with our high standards of housekeeping. Plus we have the best private rooms of any hostel in LA and at the cheapest prices ranging from small to deluxe with kitchens, great for couples.
COMMON AREAS: Our common space is fantastic with a huge warm and welcoming courtyard that has music, palm trees and a sidewalk cafe stylish area to see and be seen in, a billiards room with music, dancing, live music, comedy shows and karaoke stage, a movie theater with big screen and surround sound, and a tiki garden with sunbathing, music, refreshments and a barbeque.

From LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LAX) : SHUTTLE : Get a FREE SHUTTLE by taking the shuttle below and saving your receipt, then we will reimburse you at check in when you pay for 4 nights in advance. "Prime Time" shuttles have red vans with white writing and pick up in front of arrivals for $15 call (800) 473-3743. Our address is 5920 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood.
DRIVING : Take the ramp to the 105 East for 0.1 miles. Merge onto S. Sepulveda Blvd. 0.6 miles. Take the ramp to the 105 East and go 6.7 miles. Take the exit onto the 110 North toward Los Angeles and go 8.2 miles. Take the exit for the 101 North toward Hollywood and go 4.9 miles. Get off on the Hollywood Boulevard exit turn left, past Bronson we are directly after 'The Palms Thai' restaurant on the Left. Pull into the courtyard. If you hit Gower Avenue, you went too far.
METRO / BUS : Take the shuttle to the "Green Line Metro Station" at the airport. Buy a day pass and take the Green Line to 'Norwalk'. Get off and transfer to the 'Imperial & Wilmington Blue Line Transfer'. Take the Blue line to the "7th & Metro Red Line Station Transfer". Take the Red Line to "Hollywood & Vine" stop, then walk 3 blocks East on Hollywood Boulevard past Toyota to 5920 Hollywood Boulevard.
From DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES ALAMEDA UNION TRAIN STATION : DRIVING : Take Alameda Street South and get on the 101 Freeway North, 5.5 miles. Get off on the Hollywood Boulevard exit and make a left. Past Bronson we are directly after 'The Palms Thai' restaurant on the left. Pull into the courtyard. If you hit Gower Avenue, you went too far. METRO / BUS : take the Metro Redline (LA's Subway) to the Hollywood and Vine stop, then walk 3 blocks East on Hollywood Boulevard past Toyota to 5920 Hollywood Boulevard.
From HOLLYWOOD GREYHOUND BUS STATION : DRIVING : Make a right onto Cahuenga Boulevard heading south for 0.05 miles. Make a left on Hollywood Boulevard and head East for 0.2 miles until you pass the Toyota Dealership. We are the first buliding after that. If you pass Bronson Avenue, you went too far. METRO / BUS : Walk right onto Cahuenga Boulevard and cross Hollywood Boulevard. Make a left heading East on Hollywood Boulevard, you can keep walking 4 city blocks to us or take the local bus #217 heading East on Hollywood Boulevard to Bronson Avenue then walk back slightly to 5920 Hollywood Boulevard.
